About Samferda.net
Samferða.is was established in 2005 as a free service for people who want to share fuel costs by traveling together in one car.
The idea originally came from Germany, and it was Anita Hubner who brought this concept to Iceland and teamed up with Birgir Þór Halldórsson to bring it to life.
In 2023, Samferða.is received a grant from Landsbankinn to modernize the system and make it more secure. We are grateful for their support in continuing to serve the community.
The website has been free since day one and will remain so.
